NOVEMBER 17 & 24, 2024

Your Support for the DMF Special Day Offering Is Needed!

The website of our denomination’s General Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), disciplesmissionfund.org, states “the Disciples Mission Fund Special Day Offerings provide an opportunity to highlight specific ministries as part of our faith celebrations. There are four Disciples Mission Fund Special Day Offerings received each year during Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving, and Christmas seasons.”

Throughout Disciples congregations in the United States and Canada, this year, the Thanksgiving Offering will be received in many congregations on Nov. 17 & 24, 2024. The Thanksgiving Offering benefits the Colleges, Universities, Seminaries, and Divinity Houses affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Higher education has been an important focus for Disciples since the very beginning of the movement. Throughout our history, Disciples have founded institutions of higher learning to educate students and form leaders to make a difference in the world. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is still committed to higher education. Your gift to the Thanksgiving Offering helps support the education of thousands of students at our fifteen colleges and universities as well as our seven seminaries and divinity houses.

It is within Disciples of Christ covenantal work together that during the promotional financial campaigns on behalf of specific ministries, which is usually a duration of two weeks, other promotions do not publicize competing promotions. As a participating region within the CC(DOC), the Christian Church Capital Area will honor this covenant as well. As your Regional Minister, I can’t stress enough that you visit the region’s website at cccadisciples.org for more information about the upcoming final DMF Special Day Offering to be received which provides 100% total funding to our region, the Christmas Special Day Offering, which will be promoted with greater intent immediately after Sunday November 24th. Our financial gifts to the Special Day Christmas Offering support the work of regional ministry to:

  • Connect congregations to each other

  • Foster faith development

  • Gather Disciples in camps, conferences, and assemblies

  • Nurture the development of a new generation of pastors

  • Assist churches in calling new ministers

  • Interpret the global mission of the Church

  • Represent the Church in ecumenical gatherings

  • Counsel and pray with those who are troubled of spirit

  • Lead the Church to address racism

  • Inspire leaders to experiment and create

  • Witness to the power of God to make things new

Finally, as a part of the promotional effort to encourage financial support for the Special Day Christmas Offering, I would be honored by the participation of volunteers, congregations, clergy and friends of the Christian Church Capital Area who will join me in making our 2024 campaign successful!

With Gratitude,

Marcus
