Members of the Outdoor Ministry Committee of the Christian Church Capital Area Region, along with the Camp & Conference Commission, both of which have oversight of the programming and management our camp and our conference center, have been in discussion for some time on the state of the finances and attendance at our facilities. 

The situation at Camp Mary Mac, both in terms of the long-term excess of expenses over income, as well as the declining number of campers attending our church camps, has been troubling.  It is fair to say we are at a critical juncture in our ability to maintain and operate the camp.  Before any decisions are made, however,  the leadership of the Region has decided to host a series of Town Hall Meetings to present the details of the situation and to receive the vital feedback needed from members of our congregations around the Region.

We want to emphasize that no decisions have been made nor will they be made until we have shared the details of the situation and heard from as many people as possible from around the Region.  This process will be careful, faithful, and deliberate and the participation of as many persons as possible will be necessary for us to be responsible stewards of this incredible gift we have been given by God.
